The hosts
Design Better is a product of The Curiosity Department, LLC. For years Eli and Aarron have facilitated conversations on design, creativity, and leadership at private dinners, retreats, live events, and inside companies. They bring that same warmth and curiosity to every episode.

Aarron Walter
Co-host and co-founder
Aarron started the user experience design practice at Mailchimp and helped grow the company from a few thousand customers to tens of millions. At InVision he studied design teams at some of the most admired technology companies to identify the traits that influence success. When the COVID-19 pandemic emerged he joined former CDC Director Dr Tom Frieden at Resolve to Save Lives, helping US public health teams, the Africa CDC, and the WHO use design and technology in emergency response. He is the author of several books, most recently the second edition of Designing for Emotion, and has advised the White House, the US Department of State, and dozens of corporations, startups, and venture capital firms.

Eli Woolery
Co-host and co-founder
Eli trained in the Product Design program at Stanford University, where he now teaches the capstone course and curates the Liu Lecture series. He was formerly Director of Design Education at InVision, and before that a lead design engineer at Light & Motion, a manufacturer of underwater video and photography equipment. He pursued graduate studies in marine biology at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, co-founded the print magazine Wetpixel Quarterly, and was a founder in the second class of Innovation Endeavors' Runway Program. He also founded Out of the Deep Blue, a design consultancy whose clients included Genentech and Kaiser Permanente. A lifelong worshiper of the ocean, he surfs, dives, and kayaks.
